מִצְוָה לֹא תַעֲשֶׂה - Negative Commandment
Family – מִשְׁפָּחָה

Forbidden for a man to have homosexual relations with his father.

This mitzvah prohibits homosexual relations between a man and his father. Though the verse speaks explicitly about one’s mother, the Torah includes the father as well, teaching that such an act is a grave abomination. This prohibition combines the severity of incest with that of homosexual relations, carrying the harshest punishments and representing one of the most serious violations of Torah morality.

Commentary & Classical Explanation:

  • Rambam (Hilchot Issurei Bi’ah 1:14–15): Clarifies that homosexual relations with one’s father are explicitly included within the prohibitions of arayot and are punishable by stoning.
  • Sefer HaChinuch (Mitzvah 210): The root is to preserve the sanctity of the family, and such an act represents a complete distortion of both natural and familial order.
  • Talmud (Sanhedrin 54a): Derives this prohibition from the verse and highlights its compounded severity as both incest and homosexual immorality.
